Intelagard Compressed air foam systems

Preferred Systems & Reliable Results Every Time

What is a Compressed Air Foam System?

A Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS) is a pumping system where compressed air is added to a solution to create foam. Compressed air, whether powered by a compressor or high-pressure air cylinder, propels the foam farther than aspirated or standard water nozzles, and produces a more stable foam structure than aspirated systems do.

Benefits of Foam

Foam is quickly becoming the tool of choice for first responders around the world. Recognized for its many advantages over water, foam is also proven to be more effective than liquid in areas such as hazmat cleanup and decontamination. Foam maintains a longer wet contact time than water, translating into fewer applications and less foam concentrate required to perform the job.

Pile of Compressed Air Foam

  • Foam is lighter than water resulting in longer throw and stand-off distances
  • Foam weighs less in the hose, reducing user strain and fatique
  • Foam blankets a fire by cooling it, covering it and cutting off the oxygen supply
  • Foam moistens fuels to prevent re-ignition
  • Foam creates an insulating barrier against vapors, flame and heat
  • A foam ‘blanket’ stabiilizes the target and minimizes spread in a decontamination/hazmat scenario
  • Foam provides a clear visual “map” of treated areas and reduces duplicate applications
  • Foam adheares to vertical and horizontal surfaces
